Clearance Representative (Customer Service)

Responsibilities:
To act as customer interface in advising on customs delay affecting delivery commitment and duties and taxes to be paid on delivery and assisting with the resolution of all clearance and delivery issues with the objective of maximizing customer satisfaction and minimizing deliver delays.
Process formal entries, ensure and audit documentation for all shipments requiring formal entry as per flight schedules and clearance priorities; examine inbound and/or outbound documentation; refer to secondary screening/examination as required; classify inbound goods as per invoice description , calculate freight charges and conversion of declared value to local currency if required by local regulatory requirements; follow up on missing documentation; open/update/assign/close traces; monitor shipments held by customs until they are cleared and released for delivery; arrange adequate resources to support the clearance processes; provide guidance and support to workgroup with difficult/complex clearance tasks and issues; monitor files for all entries submitted to customs; develop contingency plans to manage operational / clearance delays; utilize and maintain FedEx systems and local Customs systems; report discrepancies and suggest improvements on customs clearance process in order to provide an accurate clearance service to meet customs delivery commitments

Minimum Requirements:
Education /Qualifications: Secondary education or equivalent
Experience: One (1) year of general clerical experience or One (1) year of customer contact experience
Basic clerical and PC skills including knowledge of Windows and Microsoft products
Technical Expertise: Knowledge of local and/or international customs regulations and documentation is a plus
