Responsibilities
Strategic & Planning

• Responsible for taking business requests through the approval process, identifying the resources required for delivery and scheduling the items according to the priority and other projects in progress.
• Ensuring the team is suitably skilled to take on the type of projects that are required based on the technologies used in the applications they are responsible for.
• Establishing a resource pool of staff and third party vendors such that they will be capable of delivering projects anticipated based on the plans of the business units.
• Preparing and maintaining a plan for the delivery of the projects under their control.

IT Operation Management

• Responsible to be the subject expert on the core applications used by the company.
• Deliver L1/L2/L3 support on applications either through their team members or third party vendor.
• Track support tickets from submission to resolution.
• Work closely with development team/vendor to implement project initiatives and provide fixes for major application issues.
• Work with business users to ensure that operational issues are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.
• Point of contact between business software vendor and business users.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and signoff.
• Ensure that the focus of the support staff is on satisfying their customer.
• Ensure that effective communication is performed with the business users during disruption of normal application running.

Risk Management

• Ensure that documentation, including procedures, system specifications, technical documentation, computer training materials and user manuals are maintained in compliance with legal and regulatory authorities and records management best practices.
• Identify schedule and resource risks within their project portfolio and raise these to the Head of IT.
• Ensure that Change Request procedures are established and enforced.
• Ensure that the Company conforms to licensing requirements for all software used within the Company.

Staff Management

• Lead a team of analysts and developers.
• Responsible for the training and development of their team members.
• Responsible for recruiting staff for approved positions.
• Ensure that members of their team are suitably skilled for the work required of them.
• Mentor and develop the staff in their team.

Project Management

• Maintain the project plan for projects under their control.
• Identify schedule or resource issues and work with the Head of IT to determine a solution.
• Ensure that progress on projects is communicated effectively to those involved on the business side.
• Update the status of projects on a regular basis and make this available to the business representatives.
• Budget Planning & Control

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in business applications including 8 years in developing, implementing and maintaining IT applications.
• Experience of controlling multiple work streams.
• Experience in the shipping industry will be ideal
• Experience of working on projects involving external vendors.
• Relationship management experience in support of Business units.
• Able to collaborate with business personnel to manage problem resolution effectively.
• Work cross-functionally and think both critically and strategically.
• Align with business best practice methods, IT technology trends and can correlate potential impacts that technology may have on the business.
• Proficient in, or can quickly grasp applicable business processes and functions.
• Able to build a high-morale/high-performance team culture lead by their example.
