Job Purpose

As a Data Analyst / Data Scientist in the Data Analytics and Engineering team, you will develop, support and provide consultancy to our business units as they embark on and implement their data analytics projects. You will assist them in framing analytics projects from business problems, and thereafter in the development and delivery of the required data applications.

Responsibilities

• List down key responsibilities and be as specific as possible with examples
• Explore and identify internal & external data sources to enrich data analysis; collaborate with the Data Engineers to develop data pipelines
• Identify and analyse raw data: sourcing data from existing production systems and/or data warehouse, assessing data quality, perform data cleansing and transformation for downstream processing
• Assist business units in framing and identifying feasible data analytics solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs and augment operational planning
• Frame, design, implement and maintain descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive solutions; apply full analytics cycle from understanding business case, framing analytics problem, model selection, data preparation, modelling, deployment to production
• Present information using data visualisation techniques
• Validate business decisions with data analysis as required to determine their viability and practicality in the operations of business units; propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
• Monitor performance of deployed data products, and fine tune when necessary; Carry out periodic review of analytics products with business users/stakeholders to identify areas for improvement or refinement needs
• Collaborate with other departments: IT, Maintenance & Support, Programme Management Officer, Infrastructure & Network, to manage deployment of embedded analytics models
• Document relevant information for our business units and customers
• Promote a data-driven culture through inspiring, and realisation of data analytics' potential within the organisation

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related technical fields
• Proficient with one or more of the usual programming languages used in data analytics - Python, R, SQL and visualisation software - Tableau, Power BI
• knowledge in data structures and mining algorithms including those in statistical learning, machine learning, probabilistic models and neural networks
• Knowledge in one or more of the following techniques/methods: statistical and predictive modelling techniques, text analytics, and optimization methods
• Knowledge in analytics tools/services provided via Cloud service providers (eg. AWS - Athena, Sagemaker, Kinesis, Glue etc.)
• Knowledge in cloud data infrastructure or Big Data technologies will be an nice to have
• Proven ability in digital storytelling to effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders by harnessing data science tools and data visuals
• Good mathematical and statistical foundations
• Highly self-motivated to excel in assigned tasks and deliver results
